Most time they are just injured.I found a baby ground squirrel in a hole with its mother dead i need help to take care of it what do i do?
Get a squirrel when it is young. It will be much easier for it to adapt to living with humans than if it had been living in a wild environment.

Step 2Make sure the squirrel's cage is elevated and provides plenty of room for him to jump about. Put it in an area where other animals or reptiles can't get to it. Secure the door so that your squirrel can't escape. Keep the cage clean regularly, to keep it from smelling and to keep your pet healthy. Put branches or tree-like objects in the cage so he can get exercise and add a few ';chew toys.';

Step 3Feed your squirrel a nutritious diet. Bananas, apples, carrots, lettuce, green beans and mealworms are a few examples of what you can feed him.

Step 4Keep your squirrel well watered. Put a dish of water in his cage, and remember to change it often.

Step 5Look out for signs that your squirrel might be sick. If he exhibits loss of appetite, lethargy, watery eyes, diarrhea or other abnormal symptoms, get him to a veterinarian immediately.

Step 6Be very careful who you allow to handle your pet. Squirrels can easily be injured if someone handles them roughly. The can bite if they feel threatened.
Uh oh.That's happened to me before!

If you want to keep it then get an 16by14 inch bird cage.They are usually pretty expensive but you can get a $48 one at Bird.com.

But if you cant wait go to your local pet store and get it a smaller cage but let it out to exercise in your home often.

Pet squirrels are so much fun.

But i made mine go,but he stayed in the backyard and we feed him every day.

But for food for YOUR squirrel...ours ate anything edible,but you should feed yours apples in peanut butter,carrots,almonds,the likes.

They are not very picky.
I wouldn't keep it if I were you - I would take it to a local wildlife rehabilitator. They will take care of it until it can be released back out in the wild.
They baby could still be nursing then you would need to nurse it.
i just found one 2 days ago my cat had ahold of him so we kept him treat him lk a hamster or a rat feed him hamster food and bedding just lk it
