omg!Its going to die!realse it now!
You can't just keep it. Squirrels aren't domestic animals, and even if you figured out what to feed it it could still get sick and die if you try to care for it yourself. Call animal control or at least take it to a vet... they'll know what to do with it. It should be released back into the wild.
Take it to a wildlife center! Why would you feed it puppy formula?
Call a game warden so they can call a wildlife rehabilitater. This is a wild creature, not intended to be a pet.
Skin it but be carefull because if any of the hair gets on the meat it can be really hard to pluck off. Then cook it and enjoy.
If you can't return it to its mother, puppy formula (Esbilac is the brand we use) is what to feed it. Make dam* sure not to get any in its lungs or it will die. The best way to feed it is to keep the squirrel upright and use a dropper to put a little bit at the corner of its mouth. DO NOT force the food in! Let the animal eat on its own.
The formula should be about body temperature.
Baby squirrels will need feedings about every 2-3 hours round-the-clock. Give it as much as it will eat.
You may, if it is very young, need to stimulate it to pee and poop (no joke). Gently rub the underside near the tail while holding the critter carefully in a towel.
Keep the squirrel warm.
Check for flea infestation. Fleas can suck the life right out of a baby like that.
If there's a licensed rehabber nearby, give them a call or perhaps your local vet can help.
Baby squirrels can be really tough to keep alive.
Good luck to you and the baby.
sautee it in butter and onions w/pepper
Or let it go.
That's so sweet. But I would call a vet and see what he recommends, you don't want to do him more harm than good.
check for any injuries , never feed a baby squirrel cow's milk it can kill them! Pedialyte is good and Nutrical is in pet stores. always try to reunite baby with its mother if possible they will return within 2-3 vhours if not it has been orphaned. contact a vet or wildlife rescue as its illegal to keep as pets. I have a baby im nursing now I can answer more Q's ?
I would contact a rehabilitator. You can care for it yourself, but he wont be able to be released back itno the wild. They live for one year in the wild (normally), and up to 14 years in captivity!! Still, you need profesional help (it may be illegal in your state/country too). They must be fed every two to three hours if there eyes are not yet opeaned(even during night). I cant tell you everything, but this website shure can! http://www.arfsc.homestead.com/Squirrels鈥?/a> GOOD LUCK!!
you dont tke care of them call your local animal control center. if you feed it anymore formual it will DIEEE. take it in dont be stupid
Keep it warm, keep it fed, and hydrated and when it gets active, keep it contained! It will reak havoc in the house! Have fun!
