I found a baby squirrel how do i take care of it? its really young HELP?

Contact a licensed wildlife rehabilitator. You can find one here: http://www.tc.umn.edu/~devo0028/contact.鈥?/a>

Licensed wildlife rehabilitators have the specialized training to care for sick, injured and orphaned wild animals, and they have the required state and federal licenses that allow them to keep the wild animals until they are healthy enough to be released.

Do not take the animal to a vet - vets are for pets, and most vets do not have the expertise to care for wild animals; nor do most vets have the proper licenses that would allow them to keep a recuperating wild animal.

Do not attempt to keep this animal yourself. It is illegal to keep wild animals as pets; if it is your intention to care for it until it is old enough to be released, please be aware that almost every state requires wildlife rehabilitators to be licensed. To keep this animal even for a short time would be illegal.

Please do not ask any real rehabilitators to give you information on caring for this animal. ';A rehabilitation permit gives me the authority to 'possess native sick, injured or orphaned wildlife, except endangered or threatened species, for the purpose of rehabilitation and release back into their natural environment.' You notice it does not give me the authority to give out rehabilitation information to individuals that do not hold the proper permits. By doing so, I would risk losing my permits that I had to work very hard to get.'; http://www.squirrel-rehab.org/pleaseread鈥?/a>I found a baby squirrel how do i take care of it? its really young HELP?

You should not attempt to care for this squirrel. One mistake, and you can easily kill it. If you are in the US, it is probably illegal for you to even have it.

This squirrel needs a wildlife rehabber - not a vet, animal shelter or humane society. Those are for pets, not wildlife.

Please use this link to find a licensed rehabber near you.

call a wildlife rehabber
if i was you i would get it to the closest wildlife center
They have to eat every two hours, so don't even bother trying, take it to a wildlife rehabber. The humane society has people on staff that do this as well.

Are you sure the mother squirrel isn't nearby? If you didn't find her body, she isn't likely dead and would be able to take the baby back if you return it to the tree it came from or was near.
Best thing to do would be to turn it over to a rehabber. But if you're determined to try to do it yourself, check out the web site for ';scooby snack squirrel';. It's a day by day picture story of a gal that rescued a squirrel that was still hairless, perhaps there's contact information and she could help you.
Ok. First use thick gardening gloves to handle it just in case it has rabies or something. If you have one of those tiny drippers suck in some room temp. milk and slowly drip the milk directly into the squirrels mouth. It would be great if you owed an old hamster cage for the squirrel but if not just get a good sized cardboard box and line the bottom with a towel. Put some water and finely chopped nuts in the box just in case it is ready to eat solid food. If it doesn't eat or drink the stuff in the box keep feeding it milk 2 to 3 times a day until it is finally ready to move on to solid foods. Once it has grown and been on the solid foods for a while start giving it some peanuts that are still in the shells. It will need to learn how to crack those. Hope I helped!
Oh! How cute! My granny feeds her squirrels nuts and birdseed mix. But be careful cause those squirls might have rabies. Just give him/her nuts and birdmix.

Or whatev you think is best.
