How do I tend to these baby squirrels?

I just saw that on the ledge outside my house, atop the air conditioner a mother squirrel has given birth to 2 small baby squirrels. I went and took a peek and they seem hardly a day old. Their eyes haven't even opened yet. I left 2 almonds for their mother and am wondering if there is any way I can befriend these babies, and take care of them.

What should I do? Will they be okay left as they are?

Anyone who knows about this please advise.

Thanks

MGHow do I tend to these baby squirrels?
Babe...Leave them alone...Mama will take care of them...Only time you should get the Babies is if the mama leaves them %26amp; she is not going to do that unless she gets killed...she will be gone most of the Day...

Go to my 360 and look at my Baby Squirrel,,go down to the middle of the PG there is a link that shows some more of him.....

I got him when the People who trims the limbs from around the power lines,,it was a Nest there..they didn't care %26amp; just cut the limb down,,there was 3 in the nest 2 died,I got him and raised him for 3 weeks then turned him loose,,he is still in the Backyard....

If the Mama leaves them,,get in touch with me,,I will talk you though it,,You know how to get in touch with me ,you did before.....I have rasied many of them......How do I tend to these baby squirrels?

Best you just leave nuts for their mum, she will take care, Nature a marvelous thing, good luck, I will check my nuts now ! teehe
hoo i detest the little beggers, they once bit my thumb, il come and pop em off for you if you like, mind you being a Maffia girl youl probably have your own Gun,!!
The mother will care for the babies. Unless she dies you shouldn't bother them. It's nice of you to help her out with extra food though. Baby squirrels are a pain in the butt and very hard to keep alive unless you are an actual mama squirrel--they are prone to bone disease and other nasty things without the proper squirrel diet provided by their mother. They also get very hyper and crazy as they get older, so the mom will probably really appreciate your offerings of easy squirrel nibbles for her. Babies are so tiring! :D

I did have the benefit of the rehabber's advice by phone and internet while caring for these babies--she had too many to take in the extras at the time, so I had to keep them and just do my best.
Leave it to mummy and daddy squirrel look after them, and you leave out food for them.

See what they will eat, pieces of fruit and bread, vegetable and so on. Always in the same place where it is safe for them.

I think once the parents recognise you as a supply of food, they will begin to trust you, and in time the young will feed there also.
Woodsy animals, like squirrels, are very different from our house pets, and must be respected. Its not like having a bird feeder--after all, these babies and their mama could have rabies for all you know!

But more importantly, if you touch her babies, the mother will not take care of them. She'll smell you, and will abandon them. So, unless they are in some dire need (like a prowling cat), physical contact is a big no. It's for their own well beings.
All the best to you in 2008.

Be very careful befriending these

animals you can invite them into

your home permanently.They can

cause severe damage to a home.

Mohamed
guard them.... coz they might be unsafe out side.... crows, eagles and other birds may harm them.....=((

leave them be if you know whats good for you.wild animals rarely get tame and squirrels are wild. seen a few so called pet squirrels .rambunctiouse is what they are.not to mention the parrasites they carry.feed the mother if you want to but be prepared to have a family of them looking for hand outs.they can tear into attics live in your walls and reproduce like rabbits.the only good thing about a squirrel is they forget where they hide there nuts.this helps reproduct of growth for trees.kind of like the johny apple seeds of the nature chain.good luck with them and hope you had a happy holiday.your friend narly
It is nice to watch BABY SQUIRRELS.Keep them in small cage or leave them where they r,keep some grains and a small pot of water near them.
Don't interfere, if you do the mother may abandon them and they might die. If something happens to the mother ring a local wildlife centre and ask them for advice.
Cuisinart.
Do NOT touch them, their mother will not care for them any more if you, just do what you have been doing and keep your distance.
Well give lot of care too them.
call animal control
You should love and take care of those squirrel's babies without making harm to them. They would surely run after you after some time.Go nearest to the nature, some inspiration would come out from your heart to tackle this situation.Mafia Girl,How your Identity is!
The best for them is probably to leave them alone. The mother squirrel knows how to take care of them and will do a better job if she's not scared to come near because you're around.

Also, I don't know if it's the case with squirrels but some animals (like rabbits) will abandon or even eat their babies if disturbed at this stage, so whatever you do don't touch them.

I'm sure she'll appreciate food left for her though, and when the babies get older and start eating nuts an' stuff you can feed them as well and they'll probably eat out of your hand eventually!
Leave them be. You can still leave nuts out for their mother to get. But let her take care of them. It would be a bad idea to try and befriend them in any way. Just watch from afar. Everything should be ok as is. That's a really great find though! How lucky for you! ERRROOF!
I would personally leave them well alone if the mother is still tending to them if she should suddenly dissappear then I would contact your local wildlife rescue centre who will be able to offer further advice on what you should do from there.
LEAVE THEM ALONE! But keep an eye on them to make sure their mother is making it back to the nest.Call your vet and ask advise should she not return. You'll get the best advise there. Also there may be someone in your area who regularly fosters squirrels who knows what to do they can put you in contact with.
