Baby Squirrel?

I got a baby squirrel on my terrace today..I dont know what to do with it...What all are its dite?what should i care the most for? and what should i do!!Baby Squirrel?
is there an animal rescue center aroun? bring it there


In the wild, all squirrels have the same basic diet. Depending on the season, squirrels have different diets. Mostly they eat nuts, buds, fruit, grain, fledglings, and birds' eggs. Red Squirrels especially love pine seeds. In the winter fungi and tree bark are a common food. Many squirrels will also gather food to store for the winter - such as nuts and mushrooms.





In captivity, squirrels need to be provided with a variety of foods to make sure they are getting the proper nutrition. Good mixtures to feed your squirrel include vegetables (such as celery, carrots, green beans, and romaine lettuce), and many fruits (such as apples and bananas). You can also try insects and mealworms. Parrot food is another good choice since it has many seeds that squirrels like. Calcium is also very important, so you should include a calcium supplement for squirrels kept as pets. There are many types of tablets and powders available at pet stores that can be used.





Squirrels teeth grow constantly throughout their lives, and so you should make sure that they are provided with chewing material. Hard bark and large bones are good for this.





Make sure there is a constant supply of water for your squirrel. Put water in a heavy dish or in a water bottle attached to the side of the cage. Also make sure to thoroughly clean food and water dishes daily with hot water.Baby Squirrel?
If you want to put out food to supplement it's diet, then put out peanuts, corn, bread.WHATEVER you do though, LEAVE IT ALONE... it is a wild animal. and not meant for a ';pet'; Most places even have laws against that sort of thing, for the welfare of both parties
They love cereal. Especially fruit loops and appl jacks. I have used cereal to start weining them when mommy squirrels die they really like the sugar but don't give them too much. Peanut butter dog biscuits have been a favorite too.
Usually baby squirrels are not too far from mom and dad squirrels. They are usually trying to teach it to hunt for food. Squirrels like bread, peanuts (especially raw, if you can find them), acorns, olives (the squirrels in my back yard go nuts over my olive tree, olives), walnuts, and a squirrel was caught by a student taking photography over at Sacramento State University, with a Butterfinger candy bar wrapper. The way the picture was taken, it looked like the squirrel was reading what was on the wrapper.
Just let it go, the mother squirrel would probably looking for it!
Call local veterinarians and ask if they have a list of wildlife rehabilitators. It is illegal in most places to keep a wild animal without a wildlife rehabilitator license. (Even a squirrel.) These people are trained to take care of them.





If that doesn't work, do a search online. Look for ';wildlife rehabilitator- Your Town'; You should get some hits, and those people will know how to take care of it.





It's possible the Mom was nearby, so you might want to leave it alone and watch. If she doesn't come back in a few hours, the rehab people will know what to do.
Leave it alone. Do not feed it do not try to pet it. It is a wild animal and can fend for it's self. By feeding and trying to pet wild animals they lose there natural fear of humans and that can do more harm that good. They could attack a human they see eating or worse good up to a human trusting them to feed them and be killed. So watch it from a far and enjoy it but do not interfere
Depending on how young it is you should figure out it's age range...if it really tiny with eyes still closed or just opened it needs to be given cats milk formula and fed with a bottle and kept very warm like in a box with towels and a heating pad..they have to be stimulated to use the bathroom you do this by taking a warm wet cloth and wiping it..they must be fed every couple of hours and stimulated to use the bathroom at this time...they are a lot of work..and as dependant on you like a new born baby...if you dont have the time or drive to care for it call a local vet to help assist you in locating a place that can care for it and release it when it's old enough......good luck!
Call the vet and see what you should do. It's a free call, and he/she can guide you. Maybe you should keep it in a cage away from your cats too. Good luck.
call an animal clinic and ask them for numbers of people who take wild animals and take care of them and relase them into the wild i found a squirell once and did that with him and he is out in the wild now healthy and safe lots of people do that sortta thing.
i had a baby squirrel once and i put milk in the microwave and gave it to it. But it died in 2 weeks.
I assume this baby squirrel is old enough to get out and around on its own without having to have momma for milk.. Food, soft fruits (pears, peaches, grapes), nuts (pecan, walnut), grains (whole corn, wheat) and you can add a good dry dog food as well. Water from a non spill bowl. Keep in mind that a squirrel is a rodent and they like to chew.. I do not recommend they become a loose house pet.. furniture and electric wires would suffer.

food so you can tell what he likes..Squirrels are so cute.


I would tame him and keep it for a pet...
