A baby squirrel fell out of it's nest during a thunder storm, what should I do?

A mother squirell made a nest in the corner of my roof and today we had a thunderstorm but not a bad one, it just rains on and off with a little thunder. But there is some wind. I think the baby squirell fell doown my gutter, but I am not sure. It has been on the gorund for about 30-60 minutes now and calling but the mother won't come down. I watched it move around and nothing seems to be seriously wrong with it. Right now it is hiding in the corner of my basement window assleep, what should I do? Also it is a gray squirrel and I don't know how old it is, but it is about the size of a adult human hand, but a little smaller.A baby squirrel fell out of it's nest during a thunder storm, what should I do?
Take care of it and try to get in contact with an animal shelter.

GOOD LUCK. Thanks for helping out an animal!A baby squirrel fell out of it's nest during a thunder storm, what should I do?
a squrrell will make a good pet.If he is real small you can feed him milk from a baby bottle and he will hang around. they are lots of fun to have one. we had 2 that came around after hurricane Ivan and they hung out till they got big and then they booked.
Take 2 newspapers or a newspaper and a dustpan and sweep the baby into the dustpan or onto the other newspaper and gently place the baby back into the nest. The mother may just not know how to get it back into the nest. Just be sure not to touch the baby or she may not accept it back into the nest. If you find it on the ground again call your local wildlife center and see if they would be interested in saving it or ask for other suggestions. Your local vet should have the number of a wildlife rescue if you can't find one yourself.

Good luck! Take pictures, I'm sure it's adorable!
Try placing the baby in a box near the place he fell. Mom wont come out if she sees you or smells you. If she dont get it in a while then I would call animal control.
Hi

first thank you for wanting to save the little fella..

get the baby squirrel and put him in box or plasic container w/ no lid... right now he is gonna be too scared to climb out.. ( hopefully)

give him some blankets or towels to curl up in and hide in..

when he is warm to the touch... you can use a syringe and give him warm sugar water.. ( one part sugar.. to 3 parts water) he sounds old enough to snack on nuts.. you will have to take the shell off for him....he can have grapes.. cut in half..

nothing else. ( for tonight)

If you need a rehabber ... here is a link to rehabbers in all states.

if you havent gotten a hold of a rehabber by morning.. you will need to go to the vet.. or pet shop.. and pick up a can of Esbilac.. the powdered.. not the liquid! Mix one part powder.. to 2 parts water.. warm.. always warm.. and always make sure the baby is warm.. if not.. he needs a heat source.. a heat pad under whatever u are keeping him in..

he needs to be fed every 4 hours.. but not thru the night.

can u email me please if you have any other questions.. or change ur status where I can email you.. thanks..
Contact a local shelter or wildlife group. If you have an ASPCA in your area try them as well. Let them know what has happened and pretty much what you have said here. You have to be careful picking these little guys up. You rsik being bitten them or by fleas (which can carry some nasty bugs you can catch). Ask them if they want you to pick it up or they will come out. If they request you to pick it up you will need a small box, a towel (or a large cloth rag) you don't care getting rid of and some gardening gloves (to protect your hands if it gets scared and bites you). You want to go gently and smoothly. The box is a dark space that will help keep it calm and let you transport it easily. The cloth gives you some extra protection and will help you hold it without hurting it, or letting it injur itself in a strugle (this technic works well with birds as well).
call your vet and ask what to do, he will know of a wildlife rescue in your area. if he doesn't know keep calling vets and someone will know I promise you.
hit it with a shovel
Throw it in an ant bed.
