How can i tell the difference between a baby squirrel and a baby rat?

It appears that the answerers so far may never have seen a baby squirel or rat before.

There isn't actually that much difference they can be both fairly hairless.

The main difference i can see is that the baby squirrels hind leg thigh appears to be longer in proportion than that of the baby rat. Also the tail appears to be longer in the squirrel in proportion to its body.

Later on as they start growing hair you will then start noticing markable differences.

I hope this helps. How can i tell the difference between a baby squirrel and a baby rat?
It should be very obvious.... :/How can i tell the difference between a baby squirrel and a baby rat?
They are entirely different animals to begin with... some context to this question would help a lot.
There are a lot of ways! The eyes, the nose, the tail! It's very different from a rat!
if there is any doubt get rid of it any way neither can be raised in captivity the best thing for u to do is put it back where u found it mom may come back for it
the tail.
One has a bushy tail. That's it. there isn't any other difference.
The squirel has a lot of fur on it's tail the rat hasn't.

  1. You are incorrect. Both can be raised in captivity. You should always reach out to a licensed wildlife rehabber in your area.
