I found a baby squirrel!!!!!!!!!?

should i keep it and take care of it, let it loose and wish it good luck or take it to the humane society ( the one around here doesnt usually take wild animals.) and if i keep it how do i take care of it and what do i put it in. its about 2-3 weeks old i think, compared to pictures online.I found a baby squirrel!!!!!!!!!?
You wouldn't want to leave a human imprint on the baby squirrel. If you do you can't release it into the wild. I suggest to release into the wild. If you keep it. Keep him/her in a big hamster cage. I mean really big.I found a baby squirrel!!!!!!!!!?
give it to the local vet. they always know what to do. if you do keep it don't put it in a kennel. maybe a large bird cage with a lot of things to climb on. find out what they eat and supply it every day. lots of work.
My friend found a baby squrriel, they kept it, and it was sooooo cute! If you have kids you should definatly keep it, it is a good expeirence for them.

omg their adorable aren't they? well... i'm really not sure, you should look up in the internet what to feed it. maybe like insects? no huh. mmm little seed? probably, but i don't know if the squirrel is to young.... but if you let it go it will die. i know this wasn't much help but don't let him/her bite you!

I found a baby squirrel once too. It was one week old! We kept it over night because it was cold. We called a shelter and they told us to put it in a box in a tree and the mother will either come or another squirrel will adopt it. Don't feed it milk because it gets diahrea, give it water in a squirter. Pick it up give it ripped tissue/ toilet paper, anything to keep it warm. Don't be afraid to pick it up, it won't give you a desease.


If a squirrel does not come and take it, give it to a shelter for wild animals. It will get too difficult to raise as it gets older and more independent and energetic.
You had to ask the question ';how do I take care of it?'; This is my reason for advising you to call whoever you're supposed to call to come pick up wild animals or contact the humane society and ask them what you should do. Squirrels have rabies, this is another reason why I don't think you should try raising it on your own. Besides, wild animals should probably stay wild.

If your cat has bitten or scratched the squirrel, there's a good chance it won't survive. Keep it in the box over night, and leave it alone, DON'T stress it out. Check on it in the morning, if it's lively, let it back outside, if not, you could see if there's an animal rescue for wildlife around you that'll take it in. Generally, raising squirrels isn't hard, I've had quite a few successfully released back into the 'wild' of our city, now and again they drop by for a peanut.
If there is a natural park near by, take it to one of the park rangers. They know how to handle and care for them and who to give them to. If not, then go to a local shelter or zoo and see if they can help find a foster home for it.

Baby Squirrel in my Wall! Help!?

My cat likes to bring in lizards so that what I thought he had in the bathroom yesterday. When I moved some stuff around looking for it it turned out he had brought a baby squirrel in. Needless to say the squirrel and I where freaked out when we found each other. He then ran into a hole at the bottom of my sink and wall that I didn't know was there. I read about using a live trap to catch him but I was talking to this lady at the place I was going to buy it and she said because he's a baby he won't be attracted to the bait and that I should use a glue trap. I find glue traps to be revolting and horrible and do not want to use one at all. I really need to get this guy out because I'm renting this place and don't want to pay for squirrel damage. Oh no! What a mess you have. It may depend on how young it is. There's a point when baby squirrels won't move until it's mother moves it. Then you have a problem. Depending on where it is, you might need to cut a hole in the wall to remove it. That repair shouldn't cost a lot. I found squirrels in my attic a couple of years back. I couldn't block their entrance/exit until the babies left on their own. The hard part was waiting. They grow quickly and eat wires when they get in their way. So if I were you, I'd call an exterminator and get them to get it out.

Baby squirrel with blood in urine,no vets/rehabbers in area! What do I do?

my 6 week old baby squirrel rescue has got blood in her urine, she was very badly shocked from being bitten in the neck and thrown a 100 ft. from my tree, I washed her up,looked for a rehabber,got her pedialyte, %26amp; after coming out of it, began her on Esibilac. She's gotten huge, near double in size in a week, had lower incisors, now teething uppers, so began slowly introducing soft solids two days ago like peeled/sliced avocado, grape, hazelnut, almond, %26amp; tried w/ broccoli, kale, and carrot but refused,still trying,(for the calcium)Has had good urination/BM's since I found her,but yesterday noticed a barely visible tinge of pink on a white napkin, and this morning she was so hungry I had to stop her, but sluggish and acting very odd, then she urinated and it was pink, like pink pedialyte/watered-down kool-aid, I know that it's got to be blood in the urine, but there's no vet's here that'll do squirrels,as they're illegal (as pets)/no rehabbers as they're not native to Oregon! What do I do? Food? OTC Meds? Her best chance of survival is to find a vet that accepts injured wildlife any many do if ask. Or they can and will refer you to a wildlife rehabber in close area or give you a number to call for advice.. Best thing is to keep baby warm. Offer the baby 4 feedings of formula a day should be mixing the esbilac with 1 part multimilk that can order at Chris squirrels and more website. (Also may want to email her with questions as she is a wildlife rehabber that specializes in only squirrels and may know what problems is right away and what to do or where to send you.) To start introducing new foods you should chop very fine some grapes, peanuts, corn on the cob, If eating carrot at all that could make urine look pink. Baby could also have a uti or may be suckling on its penis if a boy causing irritation which they often do. When wean from milk give Rodent chow also available at Chris Squirrels and more website. Monkey chow, sweet potatoes, cheerios which they love. Also will need marrow bone or antlers to gnaw on as get older so they do not get overgrown teeth.

Baby squirrel please help?

Ever since the beginning of this year we've had a squirrel in our attic and she's been eating away at some stuff. Well she had babies 5 days ago and one of her babies got trapped in our vent. The mother and the rest of her babies are in the air conditioning vent up in the attic and there's no way that anyone can get at it. I was able to rescue the baby that got trapped, and when the mother came back, she would not take the baby! The baby was in plain site, but she did not want it. I called my local wildlife rehabilitator, but she is on vacation. I called 7 other ones in my area and the only ones in my area, but they were half on vacation and 3 of them did not take baby red squirrels. The baby is about 5 days old and it's eyes are not open. cat milk at the local pet store. in a dropper, warm cloth... I would personally put some ground up walnuts in the milk I mean ground REALLY fine.





And feed it till you hear from the wildlife person.

Im a rehabber, DO NOT FEED IT! You can most certainly give it aspiration pneumonia if you try to feed it wrong.





Just wait till you hear back from the rehabber or put it back for Mom to take - its better off with Mom - let her have a few hours to grab the baby with NO humans around.








PS Its not true mom wont take the baby back - I see it all the time. Baby looks well fed - so mom will be back looking for it - especially when it starts squealing for food.
You will have to dropper feed it a milk supplement you can buy at your local pet store. The mother didn't take it because your scent is now on the baby and she is rejecting it.
The most important thing you need to do is give the baby some milk. Any milk will do, if you happen to have baby formula use that. Heat it up, but only until it is a little bit warm. feed milk to the squirrel using anything like an eyedropper, baby bottle, or something like that. For a home, get a small cardboard box and put a soft blanket in for saftey and comfort do not put any food in the box, all the squirrel needs right now is milk. Find some way to keep the baby warm. Use a heater, or an incubator. You could also put a hot water bottle in the box. It will give off heat similar to a mother's body, which is what the baby needs. Change the water in the water bottle every hour at least. At bedtime, well, you may have to wake up a few times to change the bottle. If you are willing to, you could sleep with the squirrel near your stomach for warmth.


The reason the mother will not take back its baby is because it had human scent on it.

Baby squirrel out of nest. Should I rescue it?

The mom is up in the tree fixing her nest. She has another baby in its mouth. I am wondering if she kicked it out of the nest or if she took it out to fix it. I don't know a whole lot about wildlife. I am afraid to touch it because if the mom has plans of getting it off the ground I don't want her to neglect it because of me. The baby is lying there crying. Its heartbreaking. Watch from a long distance. If the baby is there for a long time, like after the mother is finished with the nest or when it starts to get dark, take the baby and keep it in a warm place until you can bring it to a wildlife rehabilitation centre, or read up on everything you can possibly find about squirrels, get any equipment you may need and do it yourself. (probably the route I would go for, as no one cares for animals much around here, and I don't trust them anyway, thats just me.)





This reminds me of those nature shows where a lion cub might be starving to death and they just watch it die because they don't want to ';interfere';. It makes me sick, because humans have already interefered with nature so much that lions and other animals are rare or inbred in some places, but if they just had the sense to take the cub to a wild park and raise it, they would be helping the future of the animal.

Are you outside beside the tree? If you are, you are most likely preventing the mom from coming down to rescue the baby because she is afraid of you. I would monitor the baby for about 20-30 minutes through a window. If the mom does come down to get the baby, yay. If not, save it.

TIPS ON IT FROM SOMEONE A LIL MORE EXPERIENCED THAN I.Who knows anything about baby squirrels?
1st: I found out apparently in my state you have 2 have some special license to handle orphaned wild life...whatever...I have raised 2 squirrels now and they are AWESOME :) 2nd: very important..they should not be fed Esbilac (a puppy formula) they should eat KMR (a kitten formula) or a goat milk formula if they are still nursing. Do a search to find out how old your baby is so you know how ofter you should feed..there are many sites with info that will also tell you how to transition from milk to solids and teach them to forage. The most important of all of it...you can not keep this baby forever, your job is to prepare them for life in the wild and from experience...they are so much happier! The squirrels I have raised do still come up to my glass door to say Hi, just no touching! Love them, good luck!
